Who Is Anastasia?

When I was 55, I decided to embrace the things I love and hold precious and dear, regardless of anyone else's thoughts and opinion. I am a visual folk artist who loves flowers - my own flowers, grown and/or painted by me. I love good, hearty, exotic foods, and I love to prepare them myself. I love the secret garden situated in my backyard, regardless of how overgrown and wild it gets. No longer able to afford a vacation, this will have to be it for the time being. In the winter months, I still enjoy it. Anyway, here I am sharing my art, favorite recipes, cocktails, gardening tips, and just my usual vents and bantering. After all, I'm old enough to say whatever the heck I want to now ...

  1. hey girlie! sorry it took me so long to get back to you.
I know a few things about harvesting your own seeds...I know that a wave petunia will produce seeds...but that the seed it makes will not make a wave petunia, but a petunia none the less I also know that seeds from a genetically altered plant that was changed to produce a certain color, will not make the color of the mother plant (the one you took seed off of) it will make one of the original plants that were used to create the new color! It is a crap shoot in the color department, but fun and rewarding to do!
as for petunia being difficult...it is not true. I seed them thickly at first, as the seeds are so tiny, but that way I am guaranteed a plant or two out of them...do not water from above, make the container soak the water up from below...give the seed light and warmth, and you should be good to go!
    did that help?

The Backyard --Today's Vacation Spot

The Backyard --Today's Vacation Spot
A simple garden meal in the shade. No, it's not my backyard, but it looks identical to the one I grew up with at our home in Queens. Looking for an original pic of it to post soon!
